AEL-Span, LLC is a supplier of Integrated Customized Warehousing, Logistics and Transportation solutions for the Automotive, Electronics, and Consumer Goods industry. We provide inbound-to-plant just in time logistics services for the automotive manufacturing industry.

Job Summary

As a progressive and rapidly growing Third Party Logistics (3PL) provider, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager for our facilities in Louisville, Kentucky (Robards Lane and Grade Lane locations).

The Operations Manager is responsible for the operation of a 50,000 sq. ft. warehouse, which houses approximately 150 SKUs in secondary locations and two sequencing cells that each have a supermarket of primary locations. The facility has 15 dock doors and has a staff of 11 team members on first shift.

The Operations Manager will also be responsible for the operation of an 80,000 sq ft warehouse which houses approximately 200 SKUs in secondary locations and two sequencing cells that each have a supermarket of primary locations. The facility has 8 dock doors and has a staff of 25 employees on first shift and 3 employees on second shift. 

We are looking for a team player who thrives on providing excellent customer service and adherence to policies and procedures.  Candidates must possess strong computer knowledge and excellent people management skills.  Material handling experience is a definite plus. Qualified candidates must be dependable, responsible, and able to manage the following shift schedule (subject to change based on customer requirements):

Monday – Friday 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Monday – Friday 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM

Saturday 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

With direction from the Regional Operations Manager, the Multi-Site Operations Manager’s primary responsibility will be the day-to-day operation of the facility, ensuring a safe work environment that meets all customer demands efficiently.

The Operations Manager will function in a leadership capacity, with the core responsibilities of analyzing and recommending safety, operational and infrastructure improvements; ensuring proper training is provided to all team members, helping to achieve customer satisfaction with an error/defect free service; communicating effectively with the customer and team members; and actively striving for continuous improvements by reviewing and reducing costs.

  • Manage, lead and direct Warehouse management teams
  • Develop and implement continuous process improvements that decrease cost and improve efficiency
  • Develop, update and maintain all short and long-term plans, policies, programs, operating procedures and objectives
  • Plan and direct all aspects of production operations, including strategies to increase net operating income, maintain quality, and ensure continuous improvement
  • Lead, develop and mentor Production Supervisors and Team Leads
  • Ensure integration of workflow, timely production, and budgetary conformance
  • Ensure all warehouse safety, quality, and productivity goals are achieved and process and procedures are followed
  • Support Six Sigma / Lean efforts

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in providing excellent customer service while operating in a fast-paced environment with a multitude of demands and deliverables.
  • Experience and ability to implement safety requirements and cautions in a warehouse and manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to manage KPI’s related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost.  Utilize departmental KPI’s to manage operational needs.
  • Knowledgeable of 5S and Lean Manufacturing Principles.
  • Acute attention to detail, commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills to develop a highly-engaged workforce.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Ability to complete standard work and multiple improvement projects within a team-based, fast-paced environment.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in person, in front of a customer, on the phone, electronically, or through other means to individuals and groups.
  • Ability to deal with and communicate effectively with diverse individuals from various backgrounds, at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to understand and speak Spanish is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to lift up to 35 pounds
  • Requires continuous standing, lifting, bending, reaching and stooping throughout each shift
  • Some assignments may involve continuous repetitive motions
