Job Summary

As a progressive and rapidly growing Third Party Logistics (3PL) provider, we are seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer to assist in the design and development of preferred engineering concepts for our location in Enfield, North Carolina.  

The right candidate will assist in the design, development, validation and implementation of methods and tools that improve the operational flexibility and execution of a logistics system using appropriate engineering concepts and lean principles.  This individual will be responsible for modifying and improving existing processes and leading teams in the development and implementation of methods for material ordering, communication, transportation, packaging, layout and distribution within a supply chain.

Location: Enfield, North Carolina.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Acts as a key change agent/ lean subject matter expert for cross-functional teams to insure quality, cost and delivery objectives are achieved.
  • Leads development of standardized work processes for logistics processes.
  • Develops and implement solutions that focus on reducing lead time though out the value stream.
  • Demonstrates experience with Lean Principles and Lean Systems design.
  • Cost Modeling
  • Improves existing logistics operations using the proper lean engineering principles.
  • Reduces costs by eliminating waste related to the supply chain.
  • Facilitates and recommends layouts that optimize material flow. (Autocad & MSViso)
  • Facilitates root cause analysis and solution development processes. (5-Why & 8D)
  • Facilitates and recommends process improvements that optimize information flow.
  • Develops standardized work for logistics processes.
  • Assists with managing various Plan for Every Part worksheets / databases (PFEPs).
  • Demonstrates statistical / analytical capabilities.
  • As required, coordinates packaging improvements and related packaging material flow.
  • Forecasts future space requirements by considering inventory policy, ramp-ups/ramp-downs, and equipment / operator utilization.
  • Conducts necessary time studies for material, people and information flow optimization
  • Evaluates and recommends cost reduction alternatives.

Primary Requirements Include but is not limited to:

  • Prior Logistics/Materials experience.
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing, logistics, and modern manufacturing concepts such as: kitting, sub-assembly, and sequencing
  • Relevant information systems experience – WMS, Oracle, YMS, etc.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to:
    • Lead groups and delegate tasks.
    • Follow-up effectively to insure successful implementation.
  • Must be flexible (welcome and adaptable to change), including working hours.
  • Demonstrate discipline and consistency regarding adherence to established standards, policies, and procedures.


General Qualities

  • Strong record of implementing new processes (change agents)
  • Proven technical writing skills including new content development.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety hazard standards (nice to have).​

Education and Experience

  • BS degree in Engineering, Logistics engineering preferred
  • Minimum Six Sigma Green belt, with Black belt preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend English
  • A minimum of five (5) of experience in process improvement methodologies in a manufacturing environment, with at least two (2) years of management experience is preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to lift up to 35 pounds
  • Requires continuous standing, lifting, bending, reaching and stooping throughout each shift
  • Some assignments may involve continuous repetitive motions
